Acts.6.10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. (KJV)
We can not deny that fallen wisdom day in and day out is rising against the true Gospel of God trying to challenge it. We see debates here and there, men who call themselves wise and learned trying to put up their stand contrary.
And some christians and pastors have fallen from their places because of them. Some have actually sided with them.
Friends it's not about them, it's in accordance with the plan of the devil. What we see is not something new. The same arose against Stephen.
But when you are sent by God__when God has filled you with Grace and power, no wisdom can stand against what comes out of you.
The Bible says Now Stephen, a man full of God's grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people. Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen..... These men began to argue with Stephen, but they could not stand up against his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke. [Acts.6.8 -10 NIV]
Someone else would say then why was he killed? You realize that not until he had finished telling them the whole matter none of them was able to do anything to him. That is what the the power of God does with a man He has sent out.
The testimony He left behind birthed a great move and caused the hearts of other disciples to burn for the gospel. Stephen spoke until heaven opened and the Son of God stood up. My God!
To Stephen, it was important that the truth be spoken than run to save his life. He knew that his life was already hidden in Christ. They couldn't take it away.
John.12.24 - 25 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
When a man is sent by God, his life is not dear to him, the will and purpose of God is. Your body can feel or look weak, but when you are sent by God, even the strongest in this world can not resist the Grace, power and the inspiration of the Spirit of God in you.
That is what gives some men the audacity to walk into places others don't dare to enter for the sake of the gospel. To stand and speak the gospel to feared witches or pagans requires the Grace and power only a man sent by God has.
Because to such a man, what to say is not a problem. Proving himself is not his work. Stephen did not have to explain himself. The Bible says all who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
What does this imply? Have the wisdom to wait on God until you hear Him send you out.
We seen nothing weighty come out of Isaiah until the encounter in which was his cleansing, the call, his response and then his mission given.
That was commissioning.
Isaiah.6.8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" (NIV)
When you are sent by God, your mission is clear and therefore nothing can cut you short.
