THE LORD'S PRAYER SERIES; Knowing Whom You Pray To.

Matthew.6.9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. (NKJV)

Previously in this series, we understood that prayer is centered in the heart, and that it requires a private space especially within the heart, having the mind set on the peace and promises of God.

Today, we look into another important lesson from the manner of prayer taught by our Lord Jesus Christ: knowing whom you pray to.

He said, "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven." It is important to know what relationship you have with the God you are praying to.

Why this is important is that you will have a positive attitude in prayer knowing that God can not refuse to listen to you and that His love is always there for you.

Let's see how this comes to be in scripture.

Matt.7.9 - 11 "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (NIV)

Jesus Christ was revealing the depth of the father's love and how much He is willing to always give to those who have known Him as a father.

Knowing God as a father, will give you confidence to go before Him knowing that He cares and that He wills that none of His children suffers or perishes. It also brings the reality that He knows what you need even before you ask.[Matthew.6.8]

Having know the relationship you have with God, you now find the reason to honor Him. Accord due honor to His name more than you would to your earthly father.

"Hallowed be Your name." We don't fear God because of only the wonders He has and is doing. I mean there are people who give science credit. Claiming everything exists because of scientific evolution and physical forces and leave no reverence for God.

We fear God and Honor Him because of who He is to us –a Father. Knowing God as a father will align your mind not to shrink and hide away from Him __falling into His hands of love yet honoring Him.

Hallelujah!
