Proverbs.19.2 It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way. (NIV)
Was there anything in the Bible built for God's purpose without His direction on how to? Think about it.
Moses received the plan and pattern of the whole Tabernacle and was told to build it exactly as was shown. [Exodus 25 and 26]
Noah as we know did not build the ark out of his own arrangements and design, he was given the plan and pattern by God. [Genesis 6.14—22]
Solomon also built the temple and finished it in all its details according to its specifications. He spent seven years building it. [1Kgs.6.1—38]. All specifications that were given to him by his father David, as were given by God.[1 Chronicles. 28]
Today it is painful to know that many people build things according to their own design and pattern and then want to call it after the name of God.
In 1Corinthians.3.10, Paul says, "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
From his own words, we understand that first his work was guided and directed by the grace of God. Secondly, he was wise. He had the knowledge and understanding. In him was the wisdom to lay the foundation.
So he warns those who come to build on that foundation to take heed how they build that the pattern and plan is not lost. That requires knowledge and grace.
Our theme scripture says It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.
You might be anointed child of God, you might be burning to serve God. But has God given you "the how to?"
Because you can apply yourself in something that is amiss. Zeal without knowledge does not serve it's purpose. And people who rush to do without asking for 'how to' miss the way.
It cut the heart of the Apostle how the Israelites had the desire to serve God but their service was actually amiss. Read what he says of them;
For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. (Romans.10.2 NIV)
The next verse in the message bible version makes it clear;
Romans.10.3 They don't seem to realize that this comprehensive setting-things-right that is salvation is God's business, and a most flourishing business it is. Right across the street they set up their own salvation shops and noisily hawk their wares. After all these years of refusing to really deal with God on his terms, insisting instead on making their own deals, they have nothing to show for it. (MSB)
Today we see ministries rise and fall, men shine bright and their lights eventually die off. Relationship start and don't last the test of time. People start to serve and somehow get tired and others even disappointed.
And I want to ask all these people that please, did you receive the 'how to' from God? Because when you know and have the knowledge from God on how to, you do everything right. You don't waste. You create impact and last forever.
1John.2.17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (KJV)
It is very important that christians set their hearts and minds in the seeking for the direction of God on how to serve Him because He alone knows how we can serve Him and be fruitful.
