Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. (Ephesians.4.1 NLT)
Besides the understanding of the gifts God has given to us as a calling, there is a greater calling that has been given to us by God. This calling is the position we have in Christ.
We are God’s children(1John 3.1), God’s inheritance(Ephesians.1.11-14), Christ’s body(1Corinthians.12.27), God’s temple(1 Corinthians 3.16) and Christ’s home(1John 4.15).
Our position in Christ is far greater than the gifts we have been given. It explains why some people are gifted but if they have no understanding of their position in Christ, they pose no threat to the devil's kingdom.
Today the Apostle Paul is reminding us to call to attention what we are in Christ and then, live a life worthy of that calling.
There should be a distinction between the soul chosen and redeemed by God and one wandering in the world. Something should prove you as a person consecration by God for good works.
Living upto that life shows that we honor the calling of God. Many people care to perform what is required of them by the gifts they carry but never think about the worth of the kind of lives they live in relation to the calling of God.
And what's the sheave here? The depth of the understanding of who you are in Christ. The more you realize your worth and position in Christ, the more you draw boundaries for yourself as a way of consecration.
Hallelujah!
