THE SURRENDERED HEART; ONE DEAD TO SELF SHOWS TRUE MATURITY

The truth is, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked and go wherever you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will direct you and take you where you don't want to go." (John.21.18 NLT)

The time we take going to church, how long you have stayed in the gospel or how much you know about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the church does not guarantee your maturity and a great glory to God in your life.

What was the purpose for Jesus' statement to Peter in our theme scripture?

Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. (John.21.19 )

The kind of death to self is the guarantee for the level of maturity one has in God. In our theme scripture we see what a novice can be compared to a mature person.

When you are young, you are able to do as you like and go wherever you wanted to. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will direct you and take you where you don't want to go."

Anybody who is alive to their will and are still chasing for what they want is still immature. Because it's not about what you want, it's what God wants.

So, a mature heart is one which has surrendered and died to their will, letting God's will take the lead.

This mature heart stretches out it's hands and the spirit of God takes them to places they would never think about.

Sometimes what the Spirit of God prompts us to do is something we really don't delight in doing but it's always a test of obedience and surrender.

The place of walking with the Holy Spirit is not for people who are not yielded –immature, unsurrendered. If you are going to be carried by the Holy Spirit, then you must die to your will.

The immature heart assumes to be all-knowing, self-sufficient and strong. Believing to be able to carry themselves anywhere. But the realm of the Spirit is for those lead by the Spirit.

Surrender! Die to your Will and God will take you to places you would never reach on your own.

Hallelujah
