THE CHOICE TO REMAIN DOWNCAST OR RISE IS IN YOUR HANDS

John.5.8 Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." (NIV)

It's amazing to learn from a toddler who is learning to take their first steps. They fall multiple times, yet they never give up on their learning process.

The Bible says in Proverbs.24.16, "for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity."

Let's get back to our scripture. Jesus said to the invalid man, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." Picture it in your mind and linger on this thought for a moment: what would have been of the man if he refused to stand up and walk as instructed?

That is what happens to a Christian when somehow they fall. Christ says get up and move on, don't look at the past. It is upon you to act out the faith to get up.

Oh! scripture is clear: though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again. It takes a wickedness to remain on the ground. Speak to your heart. Speak to your business. Speak to your marriage.

Hey! Stop looking at your failures. Don't formulate doctrines. Don't build strongholds.

Ask yourself; Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. (Ps.42.11 NIV)

Here is a testimony of a man who fell yet got up. A man who took hold of the hand of God to lift him up.

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. (Psalm.27.13 NKJV)

What you believe in is very important. What kind of future are you seeing. Or you no longer see a future anymore?

In speaking to Him, Jesus Christ was giving the man faith; faith comes by hearing the word of God. All we have to do is not to seek to increase our faith but to act out the faith we have received.

So, get up, pickup yourself, shake off the past and move forward.

Hallelujah!
