THE POWER IS IN OBEDIENCE

But his officers tried to reason with him and said, "Sir, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, wouldn't you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply to go and wash and be cured!" (2Kings.5.13 NLT)

God would have healed Naaman in any other way than to tell him to dip himself in the Jordan seven times. The prophet would have laid hands on Him or even just spoken a word.

So why the dipping in the Jordan specifically?

Look at Abraham and his son Isaac, God, if He needed a sacrifice would have asked for something else, but why Abraham's only son? Later He proves that He didn't need the boy.

In most cases, the instruction God gives is not the solution to what God is helping you to deal with. He can do it in any other way. God gives the instruction not as a solution but to test or teach us obedience and trust.

Yes, the Jordan was not special, infact there were rivers better than it, but God wanted to teach Naaman that standing before God with arrogance and pride is unprofitable.

But obedience and broken heartedness is what God looks for in a man. Anybody can do it that way but never get the same results as the one who received that instruction.

It is the reason instructions from God are unique to individuals, churches, nations or even continents.

Mind the state of your heart concerning obedience than how much you consider the instruction. You might execute the instruction but not with an aligned heart. Perhaps with grudging or anger.

Hallelujah!
