So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you are willing to suffer for Christ, you have decided to stop sinning. (1Peter.4.1 NLT)
A clear conscience is what helps a child of God to choose integrity over shortcuts. Taking a shortcut in performing anything with a designated process which you know of is a deliberate sin.
Christ could have decided to by-pass the scorns, stripes and the cross–such a painful death and taken the shortcut back to the father, yet he said, "Nevertheless, Your will be done." [Matthew 26.42].
The world presents ways that seem easier to achieve anything: wealth, honor, glory, children, work and so on and looks at the way of God as slow and time wasting.
To remain in the will of God, one must be patient with the process. The way of God is not slow as they think, it is bound by Divine timing, seasoning and positioning.
In the world with such enticing ways to the flesh, keeping a clear mind is one of the hardest things. However, scripture today still gives us another element that helps to keep your conscience clear: the attitude of Christ as He suffered to take away our sin.
Christ did not suffer for His own sake, for He was without sin. He suffered for our sakes. [Isaiah 53.5]. For by His suffering He dealt with the sinful nature. When He said it is finished, He meant sin no longer reigns over all who trust and believe in Him.
Now to have a clear conscience, one must have the understanding of the reason of Christ's suffering and also what He accomplished having suffered.
To overcome the pollution in the world, the word of God tells us to arm ourselves with the same thought and purpose [patiently to suffer rather than fail to please God].
For whoever has suffered in the flesh, that is, having the mind of Christ is done with intentional sin. You stop pleasing yourself and the world, and please God.
You no longer spend the rest of your natural life living by human appetites and desires, but you lives for what God wills.
The power of this knowledge will help you keep a clear conscience, judging when to take a move or stay, what is from God and what is a deception from the devil, what is in the right process and will of God and what is a short cut.
Hallelujah!
