The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him. (Genesis.12.7 NIV)
It was a common practice by the patriarchs to build alters everytime they encountered God or everytime they received from Him.
Biblically, an altar represents a sacred place for worship, sacrifice, covenant, and divine encounter, symbolizing a connection point between God and humanity, where people offered thanks, sought atonement, made commitments, or commemorated God's presence and actions in their lives.
It signifies dedication, a place for interaction with the spiritual realm, and a memorial to God's faithfulness and intervention.
Today it's not about the physical space or the room you set apart, it's about the moment that you choose to connect with your God. It's not only on the mountain!
With the many promises God has spoken into your life, the many prophecies you have received and the dreams and visions you have seen, How do you go to God? On what do you base your prayer and communion?
When Abraham received God's promise, He built an alter there to the Lord who appeared to Him. He worshipped, He sacrificed and offered thanks to God.
To see His promises come true, our hearts should learn to pray, to give thanks and always put Him in remembrance of His promises to us. We should also be ready to give up certain things which may be hindrances to show our commitment.
Let His promises be the point of contact between you and God.
