HOW TO CULTIVATE THE GIFT

"Let me have this power, too," he exclaimed, "so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit!" But Peter replied, "May your money perish with you for thinking God's gift can be bought! (Acts.8.19-20 NLT)

The gifts of God have never been for business or fashion. The lust in many people have interpreted these gifts as tools for business, fame and prestige.

Without the understanding of what the gift is intended for, they are trying to access what they have no ground for. Simon was a sorcerer whose heart was manipulative. Though he was baptized and followed Philip, Peter and John, his heart was not yet renewed in understanding.

With not any attention to the state of his heart, he thought the gift of God could be bought. Today we have many people who have neglected the state of their heart and focused on trying to bribe or buy the gift of the Holy Spirit from men who accepted to tame their hearts.

What Simon didn't know was that at his baptism, God gave him a gift. All he needed was to seat in the class of the Spirit, but he was impatient.

You might be the person God has given the anointing to pioneer a great move. Know that this anointing can only have expression when your heart is put right with God.

It will profit nothing to serve a man of God, moving with him to missions, just because you want to receive what is in Him. If you are not going to pay attention to the state of your heart, be sure to go empty handed.

Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, who would have obviously taken up the mantle gained a curse instead of the gift. [2Kings.5.20]. A mind set on material can never find a place in the expression of the Spirit.

You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. (Acts.8.21 NIV)

Let us focus on the state of the heart other than the fame and influence that accompanies the anointing.

Hallelujah!
