Didn't we say to you in Egypt, 'Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians'? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!" (Exodus.14.12 NIV)
Many people would rather stay in their desperate state of suffering than accept the way of faith that sets them free. How do I know? Many people have become accustomed to the weight they bear as long as by the end of the day they are given something in return.
I can not tell how many people have given up on Christ because they saw a sea ahead of them while their own problems raced behind them. They just took a few steps and expected an instant solution for their problems. But when the way of faith said, "I want to teach you patience and trust in God," they quit.
As a result many opt to remain in their state of slavery, if not, they fight the Grace that would save them. Look at our theme scripture; "Didn't we say to you in Egypt, 'Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians'? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!"
Isn't it clear that they cherished the little things that Egypt gave them than the salvation of their souls? This is the state of many people today. They have fixed their eyes on the things they need, what they lack, what tomorrow should be and are desperate for these, making them a priority than their souls.
Your faith is in great danger from the day you start cherishing wages and salary than inheritance and salvation.
God has prepared an inheritance for us all. God was taking these people led by Moses to their own inheritance, as promised by God to Abraham, yet they couldn't understand what lay at the end of the journey. [Genesis 15].
God has made known to us what he has in store for us if we endure, patiently accepting Him to carry us by the wings of the Spirit: Eternal life(John 3.16), Inheritance(1 Peter 1.3), Heavenly crowns and many more.
Yet people are ready to trade these for earthly gains.
Mark.8.36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Don't quit, be patient and let God take you to your place.
