Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, that I may honor you. (Psalm.86.11 NLT)
We make prayers for prosperity, protection healing and all the choice desires that we may have, but have you at any point put attention to ask God to teach you by Himself into His way? Have you dedicated time to ask God to help you guard your heart from the impurity of the world?
Today I want to call our minds to one of the aspects that looks minor to include as a prayer point in your daily talk with God–asking God to teach you. The Angels, which are ministering spirits, the Holy Spirit who is the great teacher all stand in await for the child of God to make known their request.
It is one thing to seek to learn the way of God on your own, and another to ask God and be taught by Him. There is a great difference.
This prayer here sets us to a place of surrender to be taught by God not by our own wisdom.
When you learn on your own, you go by your interests. When God teaches you, you learn by purpose. Oh how awesome to be in the latter.
Who has known the ways of God and walks in the truth, who has a pure heart and fears God except one taught by God Himself? With this understanding the Psalmist makes a prayer, "Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, that I may honor you."
Every morning and evening, ask God to guide you, teach you and instruct you on the way to take. With this prayer you will not need to
ask a neighbor to instruct you on the way of truth.
Even in your unconsciousness, you will always find yourself in the right places at the right time. Your mouth will speak as of one that is learned. For a learned tongue and a hearing ear is from God.
Isaiah.50.4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
People who find it heard to walk in the way of truth, people who stagger and sometimes backslide are those who have refused to yield their heart to be taught by God.
Make it part of you to always ask God to teach you His ways and give you purity of heart to walk in truth and to fear Him.
