COMFORT FOR THE HEART

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2Corinthians.1.3-4 NKJV)

In the times that the heart is disturbed, sick and restless, it needs comfort. Many people in the world run to counsellors, some turn to drugs or isolation and worst of all, suicide. But you will not get comfort until you know the true source of comfort.

Scripture is explicit that God, is the father of all mercies and comfort. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort." The NIV bible says the God of all healing counsel. God is the only healing for the Heart.

Is there anything, any pain or struggle that you go through that does not touch God? No. God is touched by every one thing that hurts you, yet He alone can heal all your pain. "God comforts us in all our tribulation and affliction."

But what is comfort? What does it mean to say God comforts us? The Greek word for comfort used here is paraklésis from parakaleo. Parakaleo means to call near, that is, invite, to invoke by imploration, hortation and exhortation.

In other words, God calls us, he invites us closer to Himself. Do you feel the weight of a sick heart? Just draw closer to God.

God calls us to get closer to Him because all we need is Love, of which He is love. It is the power which causes you to know that nothing holds hostage of you and you lack nothing. In simple terms God invites us to a deeper relationship with Him.

Now one other thing is that we too have the responsibility to call those who are troubled to God. When you say you are comforting someone, you better be invoking them to a deeper relationship with God by guiding them into the love of God.

However, you can never call anybody near to God if you, yourself has no relationship with Him. Because, God comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Why does the the blood of Jesus Christ speak better things? How does Christ heal the broken heart? In Luke 4, Christ is reading what the prophet Isaiah wrote about Him.

Isaiah.61.1-2 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; (KJV)

In this dispensation, the Spirit is not just upon us, He is resident in us. And what is the purpose? That we have a relationship with Him always until we overflow.

For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. (2Corinthians.1.5 NIV)

Friends, don't search for comfort any where, just say yes to the invitation of God. Get into a more intimate relationship with God, then watch your troubles disappear.

Hallelujah!
