They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. You must stay away from people like that. (2Timothy.3.5 NLT)
We are told of the end times where men will be lovers of self, a time where people's love for God fades out and only a form of religion remains. No wonder today the term religion carries more meaning to many than the Kingdom of God. People treasure what they hold as a distinctive matter in their religion than the one and true Gospel of Christ.
And today scripture is talking about men who act as if they are religious but then you look at their lives and you see nothing that the religion is changing in them. True religion must have the power to make you godly.
Many as written have rejected the power that could make them godly.When you set your heart to grow in religion, you must accept the power with which it comes. So, how would you define religion? Selah!
I would say religion is the love of and for God.
Since these men are not lovers of God but of themselves, they cease to be religious. Any man that rejects what the love of God does and claims to be religious only has a form of religion but rejects it's power.
From these, the Bible says stay away. Have you known of anyone who does things to their own pleasure and advantage? Stay away. And see to it that you live after their way of life.
Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world. (James.1.27 MSB)
