For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword. (Job.33.14-18 KJV)
God never allows man to perish nor has anything befallen man without Almighty warning him. In the theme scripture it is clear that God is constantly speaking to us in dreams, visions, in our sleep God is always speaking. The reason certain things happen to us is because we don't perceive what God is saying.
God does not want us to walk by our own plans and purpose that's why we encounter things weightier than we can bear. God openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, that he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man. This is to the end that every man should walk by the purpose God has designed for Him not his own.
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. (Proverbs.16.25 NLT).
Like I said before, God warns us constantly to keep us away from this way, holding back the soul from the pit, and life from perishing by the sword because when we choose our own purpose over God's purpose, we die.
Pray that God continues to soften your heart, open your ears and flood your understanding with light that you may always hear Him. God will not force you to hear Him and leave your way. How do I know? See the language in this statement: "sealeth their instruction, that he MAY withdraw man from his purpose." It's not should, or must, it's may –if man is also willing. God wishes to.
Hallelujah!
