Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. (1Peter.3.3-4 NIV)
People always fight to own beauty. But I want to set forth a question: how do you define the beauty you are craving to own? There is a beauty that is portrayed by things without –good looks, hair, expensive clothing, good hair cuts, amazing walking style and so forth. Scripture calls this fading. In the absence of these, there is no beauty for such a person.
But also there is a beauty which is defined by a gentle and quiet spirit. This beauty can never fade. It is found within. This is the true definition of beauty that all of us should embrace.
It doesn't matter how smart or composed you maybe, but if the inner man is not quieted enough to hear God and obey authority, your beauty is useless in the sight of God and men because it's but wind passing by.
David was a man with many credentials in the sight of men, a king so praised by his people, mighty in war, handsome and so on. But even with such credentials listen to his words;
"Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me." (Psalm.131.2 NKJV)
The outside can only complement the inner beauty but does not define true beauty.
Hallelujah!
