Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. (John.12.26 NIV)
Those who want life in Christ choose to serve Him. Whereas service is a choice, when it is taken, there is a condition which comes with it if your service should be of effect and benefit.
This is the statement of Christ; "Whoever serves me must follow me." It's a condition. We must follow Christ. The word FOLLOW is such a broad aspect which among the many means: to imitate; to copy; as, to follow a pattern or model; To obey; to observe; to practice; to act in conformity to; To go after or behind.
As servants of Christ, it is a requirement that we observe Christ because He is our identity. He says if we follow Him, then where He is, His servant also will be. Christ is seated in Glory at the right hand of the father.
Now if we hope for the same glory, then we should follow the Lord Jesus Christ. God honors the service of anybody who follows Jesus Christ.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have showed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. (Hebrews.6.10 KJV)
