Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1Cor.1.22 -24 NIV)
To both people who demand a miracle and those who demand an intellectual explanation of things that are the way they are in God, the Gospel makes no sense.
The boldness to say that by one believing on a cross on which the son of God was crucified can save the soul of a man and give him eternal life is foolishness to all who seek miracles and wisdom.
E1ven just to say that by word of speech God created the universe and all that is in it is no wisdom to them that seek to explain everything by human wisdom. It is the reason all the theories like the big bang theory exist.
But to them who have been called to salvation, the Gospel of Christ is the power and wisdom of God. Nothing of God can be explained in human wisdom because it is vanity.
Why are some people struggling with unbelief? Why do they find the Gospel of no use? Why do they seek strength from alien spirits and marine spirits? Because they demand a miracle and wisdom for which the source can be explained.
If you ever want to have anything about you explainable by man, you are probably in the way to human wisdom. Christ crucified is the power unto salvation.
Oh how God wrapped the saving power in flesh, then on a cross, that those that believe in what was done on it will be save! This is the Gospel.
For I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God 's power working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek, (Rom.1.16 AMP)
Nothing can withstand the power that is unleashed by the Gospel of Christ. No prince of darkness nor death could hold Him back, instead He led the captive captive and then gave gifts to men. Now how these gifts function is another foolishness to them that demand wisdom.
Rebuking sickness out of somebody without medical attention makes no sense! But to the redeemed of God, He was wounded for our transgressions, by his stripes we were healed. All this is found in the crucification.
The Gospel is our wisdom; Christ our power!
