Where do you find true freedom? Is it in the ignorance of God's precepts or in the knowledge of His ways?
Christ set us free from anything that would hold us captive just like nothing would hold him back. Even death could not contain Christ in its jaws, sin had no say over him, even gravity could not pull Him down. The same freedom he gave unto us. We also should bear in mind that it's for freedom that He set us free.
Many people think that freedom is when no law or principle restrains them. This is not freedom, that is straying because there is no reason, purpose or objective in your freedom. We(Christians) are held by the law of life - that which gives freedom.
True freedom is when you are directed by in the mind of God. In the mind of God you understand what liberty you have in the Spirit and in the physical. Here you get the right to speak and execute because you speak just what God speaks.
Paul said he even had a choice to decide whether to die or remain alive a little longer.[Phil 1.23-24]. Jesus had the right to lay down His life and take it up again. Elijah had freedom to hold the rains. How could a man shut up the gates of rain, unless he had the liberty to? But all these had purpose.
The more you devote yourself to the word of God, the greater your understanding of Him and the more free you become.
Your obedience to the word of God gives you freedom to punish anything that stands against your knowledge of God. This is liberty. [2Corinthians 10.5-6]
