THE LORD'S PRAYER SERIES; The Secret Place

Matthew.6.6 But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open. (AMP)

Which other place is secret in this world except the heart where nobody else can access except be given the permission?

While it can still mean in a solitary place or room, the depth of the matter is that the secret place is your heart. Because if it only meant a private room, then how about people who work in busy places like markets, shouldn't they pray until they are home?

But that's not the best reasoning here. In this dispensation where the center of Christian life, the place of communion with God is no longer based on structures made by human hands, the heart is at the core.

The truth is that you can be isolated but having so much flowing into you at the same time. So, to ensure that you are alone with God, Jesus said shut the door.

Remember, when you were receiving Him, you opened the door when He said, "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." [Rev.3.20]

That you don't have uninvited guests entering seal your heart and keep away your worries, thoughts, ego, pride or what the world thinks about you. Don't even think about how you will prove yourself to the world.

What I mean is that don't go preoccupied to God or get occupied with anything in the presence of God.

Daniel gives us a principle when we are entering the presence of God;

Daniel.6.10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. (NIV)

A window represents revelation. And Jerusalem is a city of God whose name implies "foundation of peace," and therefore is a symbol of Peace and Prophecy.

Combined, having a window open towards Jerusalem means, when you enter to pray, allow only for the revelation of God's peace and prophecy.

Anybody who has learnt to do this can stand amidst thousands of people and within so many sounds with different frequencies yet be alone with God in the secret place.

The theme scripture was not a rebuke of public prayer but a call to discovery of the secret place with God even in the noise.

Hallelujah!
