THE LORD'S PRAYER SERIES; Revelation and Communion.

Matthew.6.11 Give us today our daily bread. (NIV)

For forty years in the wilderness Israelites fed on manna falling from heaven, a sign from God that he is able to supply anything that man would want. The period of supply without shortage is a sign that dependence and reliance on God is possible.

But all that was a shadow of the things to come.

John.6.32-35 Jesus then said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Moses did not give you the Bread from heaven [what Moses gave you was not the Bread from heaven], but it is My Father Who gives you the true heavenly Bread. For the Bread of God is He Who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world. Then they said to Him, Lord, give us this bread always (all the time)! Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time). (AMP)

While many look at the theme scripture as making a request for daily supplies from God like food, finances and so on, which in part is true, the scripture weighs way deeper than just asking for supply.

In the verses we have just read, Jesus Christ reveals a profound truth: He is the bread of life and whoever comes to Him will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on the Him will never thirst any more (at any time). So what we really think of —a request for supplies is at a lower realm.

Because all these supplies come to those who believe in the true bread of life: Jesus Christ.

The request in our theme scripture is for the presence and the acceptance to commune with the father through His son Jesus Christ.

And How is this to be? The Gospel of John, the first chapter gives us a clearance that Jesus Christ is the word which is the light that gives life and the life that gives light.

So when we hear him saying, "I am the bread of life," and also see that He is the light that gives life, it means He is the word on which we can feed on and get light which is life.

Asking God for daily bread is asking for the revelation of the person of Jesus Christ. It is a request for the unveiling of the knowledge of Christ.

Many people read the Bible but can not see the person of Jesus Christ in it. It is in the manner of prayer that Jesus taught that Paul also prays for the church. [Ephesians 3.16-20]

When you enter to pray or to read the word, ask God to open His word to you that you really see Him as you ought. That is asking for daily bread.

Hallelujah!
