THE POWER OF A LIFTED HEART AND HANDS

Let us lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven. (Lamentation.3.41 NKJV)

Lifting hands is a sign of surrender. A way of saying that my strength is not sufficient and so I give it to you. It is a sign that you are yielding to authority.

Our theme scripture is calling us to lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven. In other words to surrender to God.

But it is important to note that it's not about the hands. The real matter lies in the lifting of the heart, then the hands.

If the police wanted to arrest a criminal, whose heart has not accepted to be arrested, he can lift hands not to accept arrest but to calm the situation then surprise the police by running away or fighting back.

Look at the arrangement is the scripture; lift our hearts and hands. The heart comes first representing the inner state then hands — physical state.

When we learn to lift our hearts and hands to God, He too will lift us up.

James.4.10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. (KJV)

We can not defy the 'gravities' in the spirit except by the power of He who first defied it by rising from the dead and ascending into heaven. We need the mighty hand of God to lift us up.

We have a promise from God the father.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah.41.10 NIV)

But how will He hold and help us if our hands are dangling down?

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; (Hebrews.12.12 KJV)

Hallelujah!
