Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: (Proverbs.24.17 KJV)
When man takes up the law and judges a fellow man, his judgment and vengeance is destructive. Because He will always payback according to what the other did.
Having examined the heart of man, He said, "Vengeance is Mine, and recompense, in the time when their foot shall slide; for the day of their disaster is at hand and their doom comes speedily." (Deutronomy.32.35)
Again in James.1.20, the Bible says, "for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires."
In denying man vengeance, God knew that the way of man would not bring about righteousness.
When God is taking His revenge, He is not actually punishing that person for what they did, He is showing them the way to redemption through love.
For this reason, our theme scripture says, "Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth."
God does not rejoice in their downfall because He sent His son to die for all mankind, them inclusive.
Instead of rejoicing at their downfall, stand with them in prayer that their redemption comes so soon.
Is it not what is commanded the Christian in the new dispensation?
Matthew.5.44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!
And when you pray, don't take offense that they have been redeemed. The prophet Jonah became offended because God had forgiven Nineveh. But the LORD replied, "Have you any right to be angry?"
We too have nothing to concern ourselves with in how and when God takes up His vengeance, don't think otherwise.
Hallelujah!
