When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?" (John.5.6 NIV)
For thirty-eight years a man was in a condition that troubled his life. Watching others come with perhaps worse conditions than his and going healed. This is a very painful experience.
Someone out there might be facing the same situation as this invalid man. Everything just doesn't seem to be working on your side. Those who started later are progressing faster than you are. People who joined church just of late are getting results before you who has stayed long.
Well, it's not about how long you have stayed in that condition. Don't build a doctrine around it. Like Jesus asked the invalid man, He is asking you too: "Do you want to get well?"
Do not reply like the invalid did–"Sir, I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me."
Stop answering God by giving excuses: "I don't have the funds," "I am from a poor background," "I don't have enough connection," "I am not righteous," "I am hated," "people are bewitching me," and so on.
The question is, "Do you want to get well?" Jesus Christ does not come to find out why you are in that situation, He comes to intervene and solve your situation. He comes as the answer. Not as an interviewer.
Tell God I am ready to let go and be free forever. The reason many people are having circles of circumstances is that they are willing to explain themselves than they are to accept the solution from God.
