And Moses answered, But behold, they will not believe me or listen to and obey my voice; for they will say, The Lord has not appeared to you. (Exodus.4.1 AMP)
By this time, Moses is about 80 years. But in His statement, Moses is trying to call God's attention to understand something. Forty years ago He was sure that God was going to use Him to deliver the children of Israel from slavery, but it didn't work out when he tried to.
Acts.7.25 Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not. (NIV)
At this point God has come to certainly send Him, yet he is now objecting because of the past experiences. "But behold, they will not believe me or listen to and obey my voice; for they will say, The Lord has not appeared to you." How did he know this? They didn't believe when he tried to do it on his own.
There are people who are held at the crossroads like Moses, who once were sure that God was going to use them mightily, but when they tried, they didn't see the results. Some were told they would go to nations, others very prosperous, some that would become Mighty men of God doing wonders: great Apostles, teachers and prophets, but non of these worked out.
I am here to tell you that God's word is not void. Perhaps, it was not the right time, or God needed to prepare and teach you or else it was not the right place. Look at Moses, it took forty years for Moses to learn humility. When he was about forty years of age, he tried to use hostility. But God needed to prepare him to use the spirit not human strength.
I feel there are many people who God needed to prepare, align and position in the previous years, but now He says you are ready yet their hearts have grown cold in the zeal towards their calling. Every now and then you encounter God, or circumstances that speak to your conscience that God wants you to do something or visions and dreams but you are still stuck in the past experiences.
You tried it on your own, now God is sending you. You needed the maturity in the Spirit and the Spiritual timing and positioning. God still wants you. And so He says;
"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." (Isaiah.55.10 -12 NIV)
Hallelujah!
