But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed by God to proclaim it. (Colossians.1.23 NLT)
In the job world there is something as such as 'job security,' which is also extended to the finance area where security is required for certain loans. This all is about having an assurance for both parties.
When we heard and believed the Gospel of Christ, there is an assurance that we got in it concerning the Grace of God. Now scripture is conditioning us to continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly.
It is important to note that a heart without a firm ground can easily be blown anywhere by any gospel. See what Paul says about the Galatians.
Galatians.1.6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- (NIV)
See, having a foundation in the gospel is a must for all Christians. There is a group of Christians who think confession was all they needed. The studying of scripture, the practicing of faith and deeper acquaintance with the principles of God is not something they feel is for them. Infact they think that these are reserve for pastors.
They forget that the only thing that the devil takes advantage of is our level of knowledge. For lack of knowledge he brings his devices to trick us out of the truth.
Child of God, a strong and firm understanding which produces stability in faith is for all the children of God. It is the reason God says a time will come when you will not need somebody to teach you what to do.
Hebrews.8.11 And it will nevermore be necessary for each one to teach his neighbor and his fellow citizen or each one his brother, saying, Know (perceive, have knowledge of, and get acquainted by experience with) the Lord, for all will know Me, from the smallest to the greatest of them. (AMP)
The only way we can become firm in the faith is by growing deeper in the knowledge of God.
Proverbs.24.5 A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength; (NIV)
Hallelujah!
