Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." (Luke.12.15 NIV)
Aware that we don't own anything in this world, but all that we have has been entrusted to us by God, there is there a purpose for all that we receive.
Greed however is a desire to possess more than you need. This means whether with purpose or not, it's a must have even in the expense of others.
Jesus said to the people, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed;" I can not tell how much destruction and division, death and accusation has been caused by the need to have more.
In the verse 13, a man is requesting Jesus to ask his brother to divide the inheritance with him. How far can a man's heart go to seek for possession? Man can stake his life to possess.
So what's the truth about the matter? "A man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." God is not against abundance, but it must be with purpose.
God supplies our need[Philippians 4.19] and when we learn never to waste and mature in the way of love, we start to flow in the abundance of His supply[2 Corinthians 8.1-5].
Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed.
Hallelujah!
