The word of God –the gospel, is not a mere package of thoughts and empty promises or stories as some may think. The Word of God is alive and practical. It's life and a practical lifestyle which can change anybody up to the uttermost.
Whoever understands that the Gospel is practical knows the importance of putting actions into their faith. Faith without action is dead faith.[James 2.26].
Today the Lord is teaching us something about looking and sticking onto the law of liberty which is found only in the Gospel of our Lord.
A man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does. Behind every word of God is a blessing for they that receive and do as it is.
Have you seen people who are not happy with what they do? Who look like what they are doing does not reward their labor even with just joy and satisfaction? Yes, perhaps they are just trying to guess what and how to do. But they that are instructed by and do as the law of liberty –that free life, they find delight and affirmation in the action.
What then? Be a hearer and doer of the word. Don't just listen and walk away. Put a little practice. The Bible says whoever catches a glimpse of the revealed counsel of God--the free life!-even out of the corner of his eye, and sticks with it. You don't need to cram the whole sermon or the whole Bible to practice, even just a fraction of it is able to change your life.
Even as just a confession of the Lordship of Jesus Christ is able to strip you off the old nature and make you a new creature, so is His counsel when revealed. All He asks of us is to continue in the observation of what has been revealed because in there is a lot that we have not seen.
Hallelujah!
