DISCERNING THE TEACHER(S) —A WORK OF GRACE AND MERCY

Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." (Isaiah.30.20-21 NIV)

The chastening of the Lord always follows the rebellion, disobedience and faintness of the heart of man. Rebellion and disobedience always result into man living in toil and trouble. The chastening of the Lord is a work of Grace and mercy to set you back on the right path.

The Lord is always available and willing to teach us the way we should go. However, seeing the availability of the teacher/ teachers is also a work of mercy and grace. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God stopped communing with them and they lost the clear vision of the heavens. This was a sign of blindness that befell the heart of man. This blindness, which is a result of sin always prevents one from seeing the teacher(s) nor hearing the voice of direction and council.

The promises of God are yea and amen [2Corinthians 1.20] and our theme scripture too is a promise for blessing, mercy and grace. To receive the promise we have to wait on the Lord.

Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him! (Isaiah.30.18 NIV).

Hallelujah!
