Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude.1.21 NIV)
It's God's responsibility to keep all Christians in the way of salvation. But remember God does not force any man into His will. This means we too have a role to play to remain in the love of God.
Someone might say, "But nothing will separate us from the love of God." One hundred percent correct. Nothing can prevent God from loving us but there are things which can cause our hearts to grow faint in returning the love.
These very things cause us to assume different densities of God's love. Today the Bible is teaching us to keep ourselves in God's love.
The word "keep" as used in this portion of scripture means to guard from loss or injury, by setting an eye on.
And there's only one way to keep ourselves in God's love: Obeying His word while keeping in mind that no matter what we do, salvation is but a gift from God.
What does it mean therefore? Obey God's word from the perspective of Grace not from the angle of the Law. We don't obey God to attain His love, we obey to appreciate His love and prevent drifting away from this great privilege.
