EMBRACING THE MINDSET OF SONSHIP

I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.' (Luke.15.18-19 NIV)

God has called us to be heirs in matters concerning His Kingdom. For this reason, He has handed gifts and callings to men each and everyone of them who believes in Jesus Christ.

The dark part is that those who have been given these gifts, some have wandered away from the intended purpose of their existence.

Living out of purpose is the major cause of man's suffering in this world. Now when held between trouble, many people ascribe their suffering to God's punishment.

Today I want us to look at the turning point of people as they look back to purpose. In our theme scripture, the prodigal son judged himself unworthy to be a son anymore and wanted to work as a hired man in his father's house.

This is how some people turn back to God. They come with a hired mindset not of sonship. These people end up living and working like slaves in a covenant of liberty.

This is not how God wants us to carry on with the assignments He has given us. There is nothing you can do to wipe away or replace the time you wasted in your wandering. God knows your weakness, yet He still receives you as a son or daughter.

God is not interested in how much you labor in the work, God is interested in your understanding of the relationship between you and Him. Turn not to God as a slave, but as a child of God.

Hallelujah!
