John.6.48 I am the bread of life. (NKJV)
~
Our flesh needs the daily food eaten by mouth for its nourishment. But life is really not found in the flesh all by itself. The flesh is from the dust and to the dust it returns. Man finds life in the Spirit.
Gen.2.7 Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being. (AMP)
So common or actually bread (food) has nothing really to do with you as a living being.
In the prayer Jesus taught his disciples we find a request for daily bread.[Matthew 6.11]. But do you think Jesus was actually teaching them to ask for food for their flesh? Oh God fed the Israelites with manna yet they did not pray for it. God from the foundation of the earth designed the ground and all that is in it to feed man. So why would He teach man to ask for food?
Do birds pray for food or do they till the ground?
Today I want us not to only refresh our memory that Jesus Christ is the bread of life but to mostly understand why He really is the bread of life and why He told His disciples to always break and eat bread in memory of him. And also why and how we also today should partake of this bread of life.
From the old testament God set a representation of this bread in the tabernacle. [Exodus 25.30]. When Christ says He is the bread of life, then proceeds to tell us to eat of Him: eat of His flesh and drink of his blood; He was calling us to commune with Him. Unfortunately today people have lost the meaning of communion and have made it a ritual.
The eating of bread is a call for every person to always renew the following in them:
1. Believing that Jesus Christ is the perfect sacrifice that took away the sins of the world.
2. Receiving His Spirit into them by faith.
How do we eat this daily bread? Now that Christ is the perfect sacrifice, it means the work was finished. We partake of this bread by looking at the finished work of God on the Cross. That every time we look at the cross we are reminded of what God has already done. Friends when you say you are having communion with Christ then you better be meditating on the good things that God has already done through the death of Christ on the cross for which sin and all the punishment set for sinner was put to death and life brought by His resurrection.
When Jesus taught men to pray asking for daily bread, He was telling them to ask God to open their eyes to the marvelous things in Christ Jesus and to give them the grace to always meditate on them daily. [Psalm.119.18 MSB]
As you meditate on the wonderful things that God has already done, by faith you receive more and more of the Spirit of God. This is what actually gives you life.
John.6.63 It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it]. The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life. (AMP)
This is what pops up a dead man to life. It is what gives us the strength to move on in hard times. This very spirit walks us through temptations. Listen to me, as you keep meditating on the words of Christ, every dead things in your life that is good starts to come to life. Lost hope starts to become. Weak bones start to strengthen.
Keep your eyes on the cross! On it He said it is finished!
You will not die before your time because He came to give life. You will not fail because He conquered. You will not die of sickness because He was bruised that you are healed. You will not be put to shame because He was made shame that you receive glory!
Jesus Christ is the bread of life! He is the food for your mind , spirit and soul!
This is our daily bread: His very word spoken to us. This is the air we breath: His presence living in us.
The bread in the tabernacle was called "the Bread of the Presence" which was to be kept fresh. So Jesus said you shall pray like this "......give us today our daily bread." —Let your presence always be with us by reason of your word of Truth.
Always keep your spirit strong by eating the bread of life.
A strong Spirit of a man sustains him.
It is done!
Rev.21.6 And He [further] said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I [Myself] will give water without price from the fountain (springs) of the water of Life. (AMP)
Every time you meditate on the truth, drink also from the fountain of life. It's given unto us.
Praise God
