Eph.4.29 Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God 's favor) to those who hear it. (AMP)
It's so impressive to know that God is interested even in our casual conversations with friends and peers. There is nothing which comes out of a man's mouth that has no effect on either his life or on those who hear him.
Mark.7.20 -23 He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.'"
When you examine Jesus' statement, He points out some of the things that are expressed by the words that come out of a man's mouth for which all are corruptive and can cause sickness to the heart of the listeners.
In the view of this, Paul warns us with love to ensure no such speech comes out of our lips. No law or principle is set into motion without speech. Neither was anything created without speech. Every time a word proceeds out of our lips something, whether good or bad is set in motion somewhere.
Examine the curses that where pronounced to people who broke the law of Moses: none took effect without being pronounced and the people saying amen.
What kind of speech should then flow from our lips?
Only such speech as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God 's favor) to those who hear it.
There are people whose tongue is quick to pronounce judgment, flowing with words that even kill the little hope left in the weak. This was not the nature of Christ. [Matthew 12.18-20].
Today the Bible is teaching us to observe every single thing that we mention having in mind that it can either build or destroy those who hear.
Hallelujah!
