Genesis.30.27 And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake. (KJV)
A 'source' refers to the point of origin, the place where something begins, while on the other hand, a 'resource' refers to something available for use, supporting action, or helping to complete a task. In many scenarios, a source can be used as a resource, but not all resources are sources.
In the world, there are people who are sources while others are resources. The real issue lies in the ability or disability to identify them right.
Because some have put off sources to gain resources and had no wisdom that would save them from their great mistake.
In the theme scripture, Laban had many servants, but by divination, he says, he was able to separate them and marked Jacob as a source.
Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.
And it's amazing how sources can easily be missed and left to slide through our hands. Jacob wanted to leave. In the case of Lot and Abraham (the source of Lot's blessing), Abraham brought the idea of separation first.
Gen.13.5,8 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers. (NIV)
Therefore, it is in your wisdom to know who to let go and who to keep in your life. Those who were resources and have accomplished their purpose may be let go. But a source should never at anytime be let go.
There are blessings that have extended to you because of the favor of God at work in another person. Letting such people go is a great mistake.
Many become too arrogant and think what they have received is enough and now seek independence. The Nile has carried billions and trillions of litres of water. But let's suppose that it is disconnected from Victoria which is it's source. It becomes History of once a great river in Africa.
That's what happens to people who don't have the wisdom to keep the connection with sources of their blessings.
It's a prayer of my heart that God gives us the wisdom to discern who our sources or resources are. And also to know who and when to let go.
Hallelujah!
