HOW TO AVOID EVIL; WHERE 'THE POWER TO' IS.

Proverbs.16.6 By mercy and love, truth and fidelity [to God and man - not by sacrificial offerings], iniquity is purged out of the heart, and by the reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord men depart from and avoid evil. (AMP)

Many people have received Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Thanks be to God. Their sins have been forgiven. They have been reconciled to God.

But looking at the odds, christians are also found in the works of evil. Sin has not departed from their doors and wickedness from their hands. So it brings the question of 'can anybody stop sinning?'

Because flesh in it's nature ascribes to sinful desires and lust. Yet inside there is a spirit that serves the law of God. Paul felt it and said "But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit]. [1Cor.9.27].

Many people see the law as one which came to create trembling in the hearts of people because of the punishment which was coded to it. In actual sense the law came that people may have reverential fear of God. But it demanded human strength just to prove how weak he is. None was able because nobody new how to have worshipful fear of the Lord.

When Christ came, He taught us and gave us the strength to worshipfully fear God thereby fulfilling the law. Because of Him, you are told in Romans.6.14 that Sin is no longer your master, for you are no longer subject to the law, which enslaves you to sin. Instead, you are free by God's grace.

So why is sin still a matter in christian lives? I will tell you; Many Christians have not learned and embraced reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord.

They stop at knowing that the Grace of God is sufficient. But what was the purpose of grace? The answer is right in Titus.2.11–12.

"For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind. It has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world,”(AMP)

Grace comes to teach us to fear God and that's the power that delivers from and helps us to depart from and avoid evil.

As I sum up, Our theme scripture tells us the whole profound truth: By mercy and love, truth and fidelity [to God and man - not by sacrificial offerings], iniquity is purged out of the heart. For that, we thank God because through Christ who is the emblem of God's mercy and love, truth and fidelity, we were saved.

But now, by the reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord, we will continue to depart from and avoid evil which the devil constantly tries to lay on our way.

Hallelujah!
